Death & Cupcakes
Letting Go—Harvesting What Matters Most
with Sheila Fleming

**New Location**

Saturday, September 26

10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

Pittsboro Presbyterian Church

95 East Street, Pittsboro

While there is no roadmap for grief, finding different ways to cope can be part of the healing process. Death & Cupcakes is designed to raise awareness about topics surrounding death that often remain taboo. It provides a safe space to ask questions, share your story, be witnessed, sit quietly in the present moment, and listen to the insights of others on death, dying, loss, grief, and renewal.

Letting Go—Harvesting What Matters Most is a heart-centered event hosted by Sheila Fleming. Through reflection and shared experience, participants are invited to honor loss, cherish what remains, and discover the enduring gifts carried forward through grief. In addition to encouraging open and honest dialogue, the gathering will include brief periods of mindfulness meditation—and, of course, cupcakes.

About Death Cafes

Death & Cupcakes is heart2heart's interpretation of Death Cafes, a global movement born from the writings of Bernard Crettaz, a Swiss sociologist who believes talking about death leads to authenticity. At a Death Cafe, the community gathers to discuss life and death, with a serving of tea and cake. The objective is to raise awareness through open conversation about a topic that remains taboo. The idea is “to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of our (finite) lives.” Death Cafes are not-for-profit and there is no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product, or course of action. Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness.

It took me years to understand that this, too, was a gift.”
